Do you have an antique radio you would like to hear play again? Or, an old radio you bought at a flea market and wonder if it could work again? I repair, restore, and service most old antique radios made in the United States between the mid-1930's through the mid-1950'sboth electronics and wood cabinets. Repairing or restoring an antique radio is a 50-50 proposition at best, and depends on the condition of the radio. It is also impossible to know who has done what to the radio over the yearsare all parts original or were modifications made to the electronic and mechanical sections of the radio? Since some of the electronic components go bad with age, all capacitors and crumbled wiring [including power cord] should be replaced before a vintage radio is plugged in. CAUTION: If you have just purchased an old radio or have one that has not been turned on for many years, do not plug it in. The wiring may be bad and cause a fire or, there is a good chance you could destroy the radio and/or receive an electrical shock. My labor charge is $30 per hour plus parts. The cost of repairing your radio depends on the problem and what parts can be fixed or replaced. I try to repair only those parts necessary for your radio to operate safely and satisfactorily. Note that antique radio restoration is a much more involved processas compared to a simple radio repair. Restoration involves attempting to return the radio to its original state as it came off the assembly line. Repair involves fixing the radio so it looks good for display and plays. I
need to see your radio before an estimate of repair or restoration costs
can be given. You are responsible for packaging, shipping, and insurance
costs to and from Sandusky, Ohio 44870. |
